Do Your Goals Reflect What Truly Matters?

El Salvador 2023

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has set eternity in their hearts, yet no one can fathom what Elohim has done from beginning to end.”
- Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) 3:11

There’s something sacred about a pause.

Not because the calendar says so, but because the soul does.

Whether you're at the start of a new cycle or simply sensing a shift within, there comes a moment where you’re invited to reflect, not just on what you're doing, but on why.

In my own journey, especially as a nomad walking out my assignment, I’ve come to realize that success without alignment is hollow. You can hit every goal, and still feel unfulfilled if the root is disconnected from purpose.

Redefining Goals Through Purpose

The world often tells us to set goals for more: more income, more clients, more visibility.

But I’ve learned to ask different questions:

  • Will this goal bring me closer to what I value?

  • Will it free me to serve better?

  • Does it honor the pace and peace I desire?

When goals are rooted in clarity, not comparison, they carry a different weight. They move you forward without fragmenting you.

Three Anchored Goals for Any Season

No matter what time of year you’re planning, here are three kinds of goals that bring both structure and soul:

  1. Financial Goals

Not just about revenue but about right-sizing your income to support sustainability and service.

  2. Operational Goals

Simplify. Streamline. Create flow. Your backend should feel like a river, not a riptide.

  3. Impact Goals

What difference are you here to make? How will your work reflect that in clients, in community, in your own soul?

These three form a constellation, a map that lights the way when vision feels fuzzy or the journey gets long.

The Question Beneath the Goal

So before you chase another milestone, ask yourself:

“Does this reflect what truly matters?”

Because success, when rooted in purpose, doesn’t just look good on paper. It feels right in the soul.

Reflection: What’s one goal you’re holding right now that aligns so deeply with your purpose, it feels like peace?

Shalom, everyone!
