Not All Growth Is Visible
“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before sovereigns; he will not stand before obscure ones.”
- Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 22:29
There was a time I believed that growth meant more.
More clients. More revenue. More visibility.
The charts needed to rise, the metrics needed to prove something and if they didn’t, it felt like failure.
But then came a client who shifted everything.
On paper, it looked like a win: good money, steady work, strong potential.
But in practice, it drained me. The hours stretched long, the meetings grew tense, the peace I once felt in my work began to slip away. I kept showing up because isn’t that what you’re supposed to do?
Push through. Be professional. Serve well.
But deep down, something didn’t feel right.
And I had to face it: Not all revenue is good revenue.
Since then, I’ve redefined what growth means for me.
It’s no longer about chasing. It’s about choosing. It’s about connection, not just contracts.
It’s about the feeling that rises after a meaningful conversation or a project rooted in shared values.
It’s the quiet alignment between my work and my spirit.
Growth, I’ve learned, is often invisible.
It shows up in the space between tasks. In the time reclaimed for your children. In the decision to protect your peace, even if it means saying no.
So now, when I reflect on my business, I don’t just ask how much I earned. I ask:
Did I enjoy who I worked with?
Did my work feel like an extension of my purpose?
Did I move with integrity? Did I rest?
And if the answer is yes, then I’m growing.
Reflection: What’s one area of your life or business where you’ve grown but no one could see it but you?
Shalom, everyone!
